Tennis
is more than 800 years old. When it started people hit the balls with
their hands - ouch - but now they use rackets.
The aim of the game is to win more points than the player on the other side of the net. To score points, you've got to hit a shot into their side of the court that they can't hit back, or force them to hit the ball into the net or out of the court. The lines on the court mark where you should serve the ball and aim your shots. CONTACT: Lawn Tennis Association

Scoring
The scoring sounds a bit funny - 'love' means zero, then it's 15 points, 30 points, 40 and then you win the game. Basically, the first person to win six games wins the set. Women play for the best of three sets. Men play for the best of 5.
