There are 11 people on each team who pass a hard ball around and try and get it into the goal. Kind of like football, but you use a stick instead of your feet.

You can play hockey however you are - there are male, female and mixed teams for all ages, genders and abilities.

The basic equipment is relatively cheap, with sticks starting at about £15 and for me club membership is £10 a year. To train you don’t really need any special clothing, but you will need a gumshield.
